Current Status: All evacuations and road closures in the Green Valley Fire area have been lifted. An aerial infrared flight Friday morning located some remaining hotspots within the fire area and ground forces worked on the identified areas. An area of burning peat was discovered and several large slash piles are still holding concentrated heat. No spread is expected.
DNR Forestry has scheduled a meeting on May 23 at 7 p.m. in the Menahga H.S. library for landowners seeking assistance with salvage of damaged timber. Call 218-732-3309 for more information.

Acreage: 7,100 acres
Containment: The fire is contained.
Structures Lost: 12 residences, 3 commercial properties and 43 outbuildings were destroyed. Two residences and 6 outbuildings were damaged.
Resources Assigned: All out of area resources have been demobilized. Staffing of the fire was returned to the DNR Park Rapids Forestry Area.
Cooperators: Department of Natural Resources, Becker County Sheriff, Wadena County Sheriff, Hubbard County Sheriff. Fifty-three fire departments have assisted with suppression efforts on this incident.
