    Cause<\/strong>: Lightning                     Start Date<\/strong>: 10\/8\/2025<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Current Situation<\/strong>: Firefighters continue making progress to establish a containment line around the fire. Yesterday, a hose lay was installed along the east side. With the hose lay set up, firefighters can pump water into the fire area, allowing them to complete the task of mopping up hotspots\u2014 stumps, downed logs, or any vegetation that continues to hold heat\u2014along the containment line. A helicopter were also used for water drops yesterday.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Planned Actions<\/strong>: Today, firefighters will continue working on building the containment line. As smoldering hotspots are detected along the containment line, firefighters are engaging in mop-up efforts to extinguish the heat, which helps strengthen the containment line.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Aircraft:<\/strong> A reminder<\/strong> – Don\u2019t fly a drone anywhere near the wildfire.<\/strong> Firefighting aircraft remain available to the Crosby fire and will be used as necessary. If drones are detected, all use of firefighting aircraft will stop.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Closures<\/strong>: A portion of the Superior Hiking Trail within the George H. Crosby Manitou State Park remains temporarily closed due to the Crosby Fire. The trail is closed between Caribou Falls State Wayside Rest along Minnesota State Highway 61 to the Lake County Road 7 (Cramer Road) access points. The state park remains open. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Weather<\/strong>: Chances for rain increase today as the next front system moves through. The National Weather Service forecast for today is a 10 percent chance of showers after 5pm. It will be mostly cloudy, with a high near 58. Breezy, with a southeast wind 10 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph. Tonight showers, mainly after 9pm. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
