The Camp House fire is now 98% contained. The local Minnesota Department of Natural
Resources (DNR) area forestry assumed management of the Camp House fire from the Eastern Area
Complex Incident Management Team on Wednesday, May 28, 2025.
The DNR will continue to monitor and patrol the Camp House fire, looking for any lingering hot
spots that could reignite or escape the containment line, like smoldering stumps or ash piles. As
hot spots are detected, firefighters will continue to mop up the heat to ensure a safe distance is
maintained from the containment line into the burned area. The DNR may request infrared flights to
aid in detecting any lingering heat.
Fire suppression repair assessments and repairs will continue as needed. Some Superior National
Forest road and recreation site closures remain in effect.
Smoke may continue to be visible from the fire’s interior unburned areas until sufficient
precipitation falls over the entirety of the fire’s footprint.
An air quality alert is in effect today through tomorrow, with an increase of smoke particles
drifting down from Canadian wildfires. Information on air quality alerts issued in Minnesota is
available through the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency at https://www.pca.state.mn.us/.
