Cause: Lightning                     Start Date: 10/8/2025

Current Situation: Firefighters continue to improve containment line and mop up areas of heat within the fire area. This work and favorable weather has held the fire in place at 300 acres.

Planned Actions: Minnesota DNR firefighters will work to secure the containment line and mop up hot spots with assistance from three Conservation Corps of Minnesota Iowa (CCMI) crews today.

Aircraft: A reminder – Don’t fly a drone anywhere near the wildfire. Firefighting aircraft are available to the Crosby fire and will be used as necessary. If drones are detected, all use of firefighting aircraft will stop.

Closures: A portion of the Superior Hiking Trail within the George H. Crosby Manitou State Park remains temporarily closed due to the Crosby Fire. The trail is closed between Caribou Falls State Wayside Rest along Minnesota State Highway 61 to the County Road 7 (Cramer Road) access points. The state park remains open.

Weather and Smoke: Increasing clouds, cooler temperatures and humidity values above 40 percent will reduce fire weather concerns today. High around 50 degrees with winds light and variable. Greater chances for widespread precipitation will arrive Wednesday night into Thursday.
