Firefighters responding to the Crosby fire near Crosby Manitou State Park

On October 8, 2025, firefighters detected smoke in a remote area near the Caribou River within the vicinity of the George Manitou Crosby State Park, approximately 10 miles southwest of Tofte, Minnesota. The initial acreage is estimated at 30 acres, smoldering and creeping in mixed hardwoods and leaf litter.

Firefighters with the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources and the Superior National Forest, along with multiple aircraft, are responding to the Crosby fire. The public is asked to avoid the area for their safety and the safety of fire personnel.

Reminder – Drones are not permitted anywhere near the fire area.
