A 21-person crew of Minnesota DNR firefighters headed north to Canada on July 7, 2025. The crew, part of the Great Lakes Forest Fire Compact (GLFFC Crew 3), will support ongoing firefighting efforts near Lynn Lake, Manitoba.
The firefighters are well prepared with all the necessary equipment and gear for working up to 14 days in remote backcountry conditions.
The international mutual aid agreements established through GLFFC enable partnering states and provinces–Minnesota, Michigan, Wisconsin, Manitoba and Ontario–to share firefighting resources upon request through the Great Lakes region. The partnership allows for cooperation and collaboration as well as training and learning experiences.
Safe travels to our Minnesota crew!
