Crews made good progress yesterday and containment lines are holding. DNR firefighters will continue to search out and extinguish hot spots today. The Gunflint Fire Department is providing water tender support.
The Daniels Fire was first reported on September 22 and is located 30 miles north of Grand Marais, Minnesota off the Gunflint Trail. A lightning strike was determined to be the cause of the fire.
